Today we talk to Faizah Mawusi about her mission and vision in life. Faizah and I have the best time together as she shares her passion and love to people who want to get unstuck, to overcome fears, and to help them identify and heal the thoughts that hinder from a peaceful mental state. In our conversation, Faizah also shares her wonderful family that influences her behavior. Listening to her story surely inspires everyone who has a problem in mental and emotional.

A Little About Faizah

Faizah Mawusi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of experience working with teens and women in complex, stressful and often traumatic life stages and events such as teen pregnancy, parenting small children, relationship trauma, and sexual identity.  She is committed to the mental health and well-being of her clients.

Faizah graduated from Loyola University in Chicago, IL in 1996 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  She has had much success with individuals in one-one therapy sessions in the areas of self-identity, coping skills, depressive symptoms and trauma.  She has positive impact on family systems in the areas of behavioral interventions, parenting skill building, and creating family traditions and routines.

Faizah was voted Social Worker of the Year in Illinois in 1997 for her pioneer work in urban, wrap-around services in the city of Chicago.  A certified community organizer and certified Peer Coach for small business owners.  Faizah’s former clients say she is “easy to talk do”, “no judgment felt”, and “she helped me make different choices without beating me up.”

Faizah is the mother of two and grandmother of three.  When not spending time with family, friends, or clients, Faizah enjoys gardening, neighborhood organizing, and social justice advocacy in the same gender loving community of Indiana.
